Buy a DVD and Save the Nation

Since Obama has a penchant for giving classy gifts, I would like to do my part for the economy, on both the spending side and the savings side, to help him out during his one term in office. I propose that every American send a DVD to President Obama. If you're in the economic doldrums, pick one from your personal collection. If you're in the top 5% of taxpayers who are rich, go to Target or Amazon and buy one. Then send it on to the White House. Of course, by law these gifts do not become the property of Obama...oh no. They are the property of THE STATE. So Obama could set them aside and use them for his future meetings with heads of state.

Just imagine: On the Waterfront would be a good movie for the Prime Minister of Japan, say, or Iron Eagle could go to Imadikwad of Iran. Just think of all the possibilities!

"Let's all go to the lobby" trailer here.

We could all help the economy by buying a new DVD and sending it along. We'd help the movie industry, we'd keep the mailman busy, and, of course, all those busy beavers at the White House would get to screen all of the movies. And think of all of the tax dollars we'd save. That 25 DVD set that he gave Gordon Brown was worth $320. I know Amazon would like the business each time Obama meets a President, but hey -- we all gotta contribute, right?

I know, I know, that picture and the trailer show my age...but we all remember that trailer at the beginning of the movies, right? RIGHT? Sorry, killed those brain cells, eh?
