I was gonna write a foul-tempered post with a lot of cuss words...my dad would smack me.
But Pinch says it best, and it's SFW:

...as soon as the people get a taste of what a “redistributive government” led by a political neophyte and an absolutely bat-crap-crazy congress (emphasis mine) is like, in 2 years the House will turn again and the Senate will return to a more even split.

Having said that, I can’t believe how incredibly gullible and stupid some of the electorate are.
