NYTimes and Norks

This is pretty good. The Times thinks the Norks should not have their fuel oil cut off.
If the shipments stop, North Korea would be within its rights to stop disabling its nuclear facilities at Yongbyon and resume producing plutonium for weapons.
And the Norks should test their first one on the NYTimes. Well, not in New York. Maybe at an off-site. In, like, Pyongyang.

Read all of the idiocy here.

One Democrat Has It RIGHT

Here's Howard L. Berman (D-CA), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee:
Israel has a right, indeed a duty, to defend itself in response to the hundreds of rockets and mortars fired from Gaza over the past week. No government in the world would sit by and allow its citizens to be subjected to this kind of indiscriminate bombardment. The loss of innocent life is a terrible tragedy, and the blame for that tragedy lies with Hamas.
You're goddamn right it's Hamas' fault, and Israel should bomb 'em back to the stone age (not very far, to be sure).

You lob a rocket at my house, and if the police and US Army don't respond, I'd be kicking some politician's ass. And I'm sick and tired of seeing the wailing Palestinians. If they don't like it, they should have elected someone other than Hamas.

Rubble doesn't make trouble, as Derb said.

Union Work Rules -- The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

I read a great article on Pajamas Media about the damage that union work rules are causing in Detroit. Rand Simberg is right in his article. These work rules are stifling productivity.

When I graduated from high school, the president of our local bank called me one day and asked if I had a job for the summer. Nope, said I. Mike then told me about the job that got him through college...working on a freight dock. He arranged for me to have an interview for a summer job as a "casual" -- union-speak for a temporary worker. I got the job and kept it for 4 years. That union money put me through college, along with Social Security Survivors Benefits. In 1976 I made $9.02 an hour (I still have the paystubs!). That was an enormous sum for an unskilled college kid. I got paid time-and-a-half for any day over 8 hours. Friday nights I would come on at 2pm and work until 1 or 2am. That's 8 hours at $9.02, and 4 hours at $13.53, so in one day I could make $125 or so.

Mr. Simberg's article reminds me of a confrontation I had once with the dock foreman. We had two of them. One was an old grizzled veteran, and the other a 25-year-old hard charger. I liked them both, for they made sure I got enough hours to pay for college.

One night the younger of the dock foremen came out to me on the dock and asked me to open a trailer's doors so that he could see if there was anything inside. We would always sweep out trailers before loading them (pretty good money for sweeping). I thought to myself, "WTF, why don't you open the damn doors yourself?". But I held my tongue and opened the trailer doors. Empty.

About a half-hour later, he came back out and took me to another trailer and told me to open it up so he could look. Again, I held my tongue, but I thought this guy was pretty damn lazy to make me walk all the way down the dock just to open a trailer that he could easily open.

A bit later, here he is again, asking me to open up a trailer. I knew him pretty well, and we were out of earshot of the other workers, so I said "F*** you, dock foreman, open the damn trailer yourself." Well, he kinda grinned at me and said, "You don't get it, do you? Since I'm a foreman, if I touch that trailer, I have to pay the union steward (usually the guy with the most seniority) a full day's pay, since that's a job you guys do. The union rules forbid me to touch it."

Well, since I was a snot-nosed college kid, what did I know? The light bulb came on for me, and I apologized immediately. From that day forward I never complained when asked to do a menial task that someone else could do. But I also formed a terrible opinion of the union on that day. Being introduced to work rules that are assinine will do that to you.

Don't get me wrong...union work rules started out as a way to make sure that the company didn't mess with your job. But they have become a way for the union to prevent the company from innovating.

By the time I was a senior in college I was making over $12 an hour. I thought this was an outrageous sum...until I got my tuition bill every fall. Then I was glad to have the job.

Work rules killed the freight business (my old company, Illinois-California Express, or ICX) is still around, but as a shell of its former self. They're killing the auto industry, too.

Obama: A Real Leader

The island of Oahu is without power because of a thunderstorm.
From Fox News:
Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann told KSSK radio that Obama is in one of the "most secure places, so he'll be OK." The mayor said he talked to Obama at 9:30 p.m., and that Obama said he was fine and planned to go to bed and sleep through the blackout, The Honolulu Advertiser reported on its Web site. (Emphasis mine.)
Ya gotcha a real leader there, America. If he had any real sense of service he'd volunteer during the blackout.
Oh, wait...blackout. That would be a racist term. Sorry (not).

Brit Hume (semi) retires

If you turn to your dictionary and look up "class act", there's a picture of Brit. Here's his goodbye.

I met Brit one evening at Dulles airport. He and I were on the same flight to Chicago, and I walked up and introduced myself to him, offering my hand and my thanks for his professionalism. We spoke for about an hour about current events (a little) and golf (a lot). I gave him my card and offered to host him on a round of golf either in Texas or Wisconsin.

If he is half as passionate about golf as he is as a newsman, he's gonna be a tough competitor on the links!

Fare well, friend. I watched you EVERY night these last 10 years. Walter Cronkite for the fair and balanced.

Tax ROI by State

Sigh.

The John Locke Foundation is out with a table of the ROI (return on investment) of your tax dollars, listed by state. The states are graded based on the tax rate and overall state services returned to the taxpayer. The results are exhilarating or depressing, depending on whether you're from Texas or Wisconsin. (Hint: I'm from Texas, but pay taxes in Wisconsin, so don't know whether to sh** or go blind).

Let's see...Texas ranks 3rd...

Wisconsin ranks, well, er, last. That's 50th, in case you listen to the other moron, Barack Obama, and think there are 56 states.

No real surprise, given that our school tax dollars are going up in smoke. Can't we fire the morons, starting with the head moron, Russ Feingold?

Evil Forces at Work

From THE BOSS. She's pissed off...and says Sarah Palin should be a good role model for these punks in Congress (see previous post).

Evil Forces at Work

What happens to a person when elected to Congress? He (or she) arrives on the steps of the Capitol with the intentions of making changes that will improve the lives of those who elected him. He promises to be the new voice of the people; he promises to reduce spending, and he promises to make a difference.

After a few years, when the elected official is questioned about his promises, he dodges the questions. He's learned how to deliver an answer without really answering the question. When a news crew follows him through the halls of the Capitol building, he's always in a hurry to get to a meeting and does not have time to speak with anyone. He has forgotten where he came from.

I believe there is an Evil Force that hides in the nooks and crannies of the Capitol Building and only elected officials are affected by the Evil Force. This evil force slides along the hallway walls, moving from office to office like the plague. The Evil Force turns elected officials into greedy, selfish, self-centered zombies of the Evil Force.

It is no longer about those who elected him, it is all about him. The economy is slowing down, the stock market is dropping like a rock and thousands of people are losing their jobs, savings, and retirements.

The zombies of the Evil Force have voted themselves a raise.

They are calling it a "cost of living" raise that will increase the annual salary of zombies of the Evil Force by $3,400 to a total of $158,103 per year.

I ask you, how could a person in his right mind sit there and vote "Yea" on giving himself a raise? The Evil Force makes idiots out of what might otherwise be sane, normal people. I can think of no justification they could make that I would accept or believe. Their pictures should hang on a Wall of Shame in the halls of Congress.

And for the record, I say "throw the bastards out". -- Texan in Wisconsin

Cat Fight at the Puzzle Palace

OK, that's oversimplifying it a bit, but -- dayum.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ plan to deploy three additional combat brigades to Afghanistan by the summer has superseded a contentious debate that pitted the Bush administration’s “war czar” against the special operations hierarchy over a proposed near-term “surge” of spec ops forces to Afghanistan, a Pentagon military official said.
The National Security Council’s surge proposal, which grew out of its Afghan strategy review, recommended an increase of “about another battalion’s worth” of troops to the Combined and Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan, or CJSOTF-A, said a field-grade Special Forces officer, who added that this would enlarge the task force by about a third.
Several sources said that the “SOF surge” proposal originated with Lt. Gen. Doug Lute, the so-called “war czar”...
...the proposal sparked a fierce high-level debate, with special operations officers charging that Lute and his colleagues were trying to micromanage the movement of individual Special Forces A-teams from inside the Beltway, and countercharges that Special Forces has strayed from its traditional mission of raising and training indigenous forces and become too focused on direct-action missions to kill or capture enemies. (Emphasis mine)
My buddy COB6 will tell ya that soldiers, especially SOF, are meant to be used to take it to the enemy -- quickly, violently, and overwhelmingly. His actual words about SOF are "with surgical, extreme violence". Let's quit arguing about the role, and start thinking about the GOAL.

Hey, there's a slogan in there.

IT'S NOT THE ROLE, IT'S THE GOAL.

SEIU -- Bad-apple Union

The Governator has ordered budget cuts and layoffs in California in order to address a $42 billion budget deficit. Think of that number for a moment -- $42 billion. And that's just the deficit.

So Arnold is cutting budgets and proposing layoffs. He's also said he'll force all government employees to take 2 days per month off without pay until the budget turns around. But here's the thing. You'd think everyone would pitch in and try to help out. You know, to preserve jobs around the holiday time. But noooo. Here's the money quote from the SEIU:
Labor officials said they were considering filing a lawsuit to prevent job losses.

"We definitely think we have grounds for filing an unfair labor charge," said Jim Herron Zamora, a spokesman for the Service Employees International Union, Local 1000, the largest state employee union. "Our contract doesn't allow him to do this."

That's the same union that Blago was trying to extort money from.

Gee, take a 10% paycut or lose my job entirely -- which one do I chose?

How are those union dues working for ya?

OnStar and Bad Guys

There's a new technology that OnStar is going to roll out which allows the cops to ask OnStar to stop a fleeing vehicle. I heard the story on FoxNews this weekend while driving from Dallas to Wisconsin. Here's a link to the story on ABC News.

The gist of the story is that GM can program the computer in the car to respond to a request from OnStar to set the engine speed to idle, regardless of the inputs from inside the car. Pretty cool.

I like OnStar. I've used it to unlock the truck when I've locked the keys inside (yep, I did that once; no, twice). I even had a weird backfire on the Interstate in the middle of Nebraska once. I called OnStar and they downloaded the engine diagnostics and told me that it was no big deal.

In Dallas some years back, the Dallas PD started a program in which you put a sticker on your car, and that sticker allowed the cops to stop the car and search it if seen on the road between 1am and 5am. If you're a regular 9-5er, and you come home from the bars before closing time, it seems like a good idea to allow the cops to stop that guy that stole your car at 3am. I supported the program, and I think the OnStar feature is a good one...

except...

Hey, I've been in the computer business for 28 years. I've seen a lot of bad code, and a lot of hackers. I guarantee you that if OnStar turns this on, then the carjackers and the code hackers are going to get together and hack this system. I can see it now: You're out on a back road headed home one night, a car comes up behind you, you hit the gas, and...nothing. The bad guys have hacked OnStar and you're lucky to be walking home (if you're not shot). I think this is a bad idea...but that's not going to stop it. Besides, we need a good car chase now and then to distract us from bailouts, corrupt governors, and shoe-throwers.

You heard it here first...how long will it take the bad guys to hack OnStar? I give it 6 months.

An Equal Opportunity...for Santa Claus via NPR

From THE BOSS.

I cannot believe what I just heard on the radio. It is crap and I mean crap listening to them discuss Santa Claus on this NPR program.

It seems that some people have taken it upon themselves to create a program to endorse Santa Claus as black for black children. They are trying to get me to believe that without Santa Claus being black, these children are somehow deprived of the true meaning of Christmas and Santa Claus.

I can hear it now, “Judge, my client is not guilty of this armed robbery because he was denied his constitutional rights as a black child by the local mall not providing a black Santa for him to sit on his lap and express his wishes.”

Are we now to have a numerous lines at the malls for those wishing to see a black Santa Claus, Chinese Santa Claus, White Santa Claus, Hispanic Santa Claus? And hey, what about a Santa Claus for Gay and Lesbians? Why stop there?

To all the people reading this email, give me a break. Go to your local library, get on the internet and look up the cultural history of Santa Claus. Facts are facts, he was white.

I have one last question:

If your Santa Claus can be black, can my Martin Luther King be white?

NOW

From THE BOSS.

Now that we will have a black man as president in the White House, what are the chances that Affirmative Action will be removed and it constraints on businesses, colleges and universities be forever a thing of the past?

Barack Obama has proven that a minority can rise to the highest position in this country. This should prove to every black person, no matter what their means, that they too can succeed if they work at it.

They should no longer be allowed to enter our universities with lower scores just to fill an Affirmative Action quota. A black male should no longer have an advantage over black females and none of them should have an advantage over anyone else just because of the color of his skin.

Remember what the Declaration of Independence says ….”that all men are created equal.”

Second Thoughts

From THE BOSS.

Sitting on the couch these past two weeks, recovering from surgery, got me to thinking about Barack Obama.

After listening to hours of news on the bailout, discussions on Iran and Iraqi, pirates off the coast of Africa, recession, and the final episode of Boston Legal, I was wondering if Barack Obama is having second thoughts on winning the election. Does he ever sit there at night, alone in his bathroom and look at himself in the mirror and think, “what the F--- did I do, what the F--- did I get myself into?” (Hey, this is how they talk in Chicago and the governor’s mansion in Illinois).

Can you imagine what he thought after he got his first security briefing? I am sure he had to make a dash to the men’s room. Here is a guy who thought he was on top of the world by pushing Hillary aside for the Democratic nomination and then beating McCain. How he feels today must pale in comparison to what he felt the night he won the election. Even though he might like to run and hide and tell the American public, “I’ve changed my mind”, he is stuck for at least the next four years.

Most of the black community who voted for him are counting on him to make their house payments, help with gas for their cars and educate them for free. For them he is their savior. Like I said, he is stuck. He did it to himself and he has no one to blame but himself. I hope he has broad shoulders, is ready for many sleepless nights, and likes eating airplane food.

Godspeed Barack Obama.

RNC Ad about Blogo

Here's the new ad:

A lot of folks think the RNC is going to far, too fast. B.S. Blogo is going to take Obama down with him. At the very least, Rahm Emanuel is toast.

What? You don't think Blogo is going to sing? Just like Resko, Blogo is going to sing about the real estate deal that Obama got from Resko. Between Resko and Blogo, Obama is going down.

You heard it here first...

UPDATE: Round one, Emanuel and Blogo aides discussed Obama successor; FBI has it on tape.

Ditka for Governor!

Everyone's arguing about the "how": How do we pick the new Senator? Should we have a special election? Should the Lt Gov get the choice? How do we pay for it? I even saw one mention online of Mike Ditka running as a Republican for the seat. (My guess is -- he'd win!)

Let's go one better. Let's have Ditka run for Governor! He would do well to announce the following:

1. All conversations in the Governor's office would be recorded and streamed live on the internet. (Ok, maybe a 24-hour delay.)
2. The Gov's appointment calendar would be published on the web, live.
3. All of the Gov's emails would be published on the web, live.

I know, I know, there are times when the governor of any state needs to talk about classified matters. So he goes into a secure conference room...and that time shows up on the calendar as "classified".

The only way to restore confidence in this office is to be completely transparent...and this would do it.

I guarantee you that Ditka could do this and he'd win! Go Mike!

Just imagine how pissed-off Harry Reid and Dick-less Durbin would be!
It would be worth it just to see Reid's, Durbin's, and Pelosi's faces at the announcement.

What the Auto Bailout Means to You

Can I at least get a new Suburban outta this deal?

Unions of Today a Far Cry...

From THE BOSS:

The unions of today are a far cry from what my grandfather and others fought for many years ago. I am sure my grandfather is turning in his grave at what the UAW has become and what it represents in the minds of most people.

I was born into a Union family in Detroit. My grandfather fought in the Battle of the Overpass. I listened to many stories from my grandmother about how grandpa would come home bruised and bloody on numerous occasions and how she would doctor his wounds and care for him, only to have him go right back to work and fight for the union again.

He fought to protect the workers' safety on the job and he fought for the rights of the workers to be financially taken care of if hurt on the job. He fought for what each one of us expect today from our employers; it wasn't always so.

There is a government agency called OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration) this agency was formed in 1970 as part of the Department of Labor. In 1970, the United States Congress passed the Williams-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act. As a result, OSHA was formed.

The Act required that "every employer under the Act furnish to his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees" (29 CFR 1903.1). This passage is commonly known as the General Duty Clause.

Prior to OSHA, it was the Unions that made the employers provide a safe workplace for the employees.

So where and when did the Unions go wrong? Who is at fault for the union mess we are in today? Where should I begin? It was not one person but one thing that cascaded into this dismal mess we see today: greed. Greed on the part of those that formed the administration of the union, those men that left the factory floor to run and manage the UAW. Could I name names? You bet; I knew them all. I am glad to say that my grandfather was not one of them. When given the opportunity to leave the factory assembly line and become part of management of the UAW my grandfather said "no", he wanted to stay in the factory as a UAW representative to make sure the employers followed through on their promises to the workers and to make sure the safety changes were made. He spent the rest of his life doing just that.

During these past weeks, it has pissed me off to no end to listen to Congress belittle and chastise the heads of the big three auto makers. Is there fault on their part for the financial mess they are in? The obvious answer is "yes" but to what degree?

Why isn't Congress bringing the UAW executives to the hill? Why are they not tearing them up and spitting them out like they did to the big three CEO's? There is enough blame to go around and in my mind the bulk of it belongs at the feet of the UAW. These men should be forced to resign their positions and the government should put a Union Czar in place just like the Car Czar who will oversee the big three.

Do I still believe that Unions are a good thing for the American work force? My answer is "yes"? I still believe in protection for the workers, and now with the government stepping in I believe it is more important. I can only hope that those at the helm of the UAW will go back to their roots and help lead the car companies out of this mess instead of creating more. This is no longer about them (UAW), it is about the survival of the American auto industry.

As I said at the beginning of this post, my grandfather is turning in his grave as to what has become a once highly respected part of the auto industry.

Opie Never Grew Up

Ron Howard went on CSPAN and said this about his new film:

"Well, it’s a great drama. It doesn’t have a political axe to grind, and yet you know, it speaks to democracy, the media, the way it all works in the modern era. The only thing that’s kind of quaint about the story at all is the fact that, you know, uh, that the Nixon crimes pale by comparison, with uh, with uh, um, um, [picks up pen] you know, what we’ve been reading about and hearing about in the last few years. Uh, and yet, it also reminds us that abuse of power at any level cannot be accepted, and, so if there’s a political point to be made, you know, I’d say it’s nonpartisan, but that’s the point."
Opie, STFU, will ya? Bush can waterboard all he wants, and listen in on international phone calls, and he's broken no laws. You bumbled and stumbled through trying to say that he has committed crimes, yet you couldn't even bring yourself to say it directly when asked. That's because you know it's not true, you freaking moron.

Why don't you just make films and go smoke dope somewhere. Assclown.

BizJets and Bailouts

Many of you saw Rep. Brad Sherman ask the CEO's of the Big Three if they would sell their jets and fly home commercially. No takers.

http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/media/play/wmv/6821/24169

I really would have liked one of the CEO's to have stood and said, "Rep Sherman, I'll make you a deal. If you'll give up using the government's fleet of private jets and fly commercial as you travel around the world on the taxpayer's dime, I'll give mine up, too. Except, you know, my jet is leased. Have you ever tried to break a car lease? Well, Gulfstream frowns upon my company breaking its lease on the jet, too. We don't own it -- we lease it."

None of these guys has the balls to say it. Too bad...I might even support giving them the money if they'd said it.

It's seems incredible that not one of the marketing folks at an automaker said, "What a great marketing opportunity. Let's put our CEO in the last row of coach on United or Delta, have him roll up his sleeves, and let's get a picture of him on the way to Washington." Would have won a Pulitzer.

As it is, screw em. Chapter 11 is designed for the problems GM, Ford, and Chrysler have.

THE BOSS on Saudis and Oil Prices

Gas prices are finally down to a reasonable level and hopefully people will be able to heat their homes this winter and can afford to drive to work.

Now the Saudis are screaming that a barrel of crude is going for $54.00 and they say it should be $75.00 a barrel; they could accept that. If they could accept $75.00 a barrel, why didn't they accept that price months ago when crude was $147.00 a barrel? "Those greedy bastards" (as Achmed the Dead Terrorist would say).

I am all for a free market and letting the market set the price, but when Wall Street mindless midgets and Saudi dust heads screw with the fair price of a barrel of crude, they should either go to jail or be blown to glass. If the Saudis are losing money (which I doubt) and losing tankers filled with millions of gallons of crude to third world pirates, then they get what they deserve and right now it is $54.00 a barrel !!!!

For all their money, wealth and riches the Saudis are lazy, self-centered, arrogant idiots. I could care less that they have the word "King" or "Prince" in their name. They want it all and the free market is saying "NO". So put that in your robe and sit on it.

Freedom to be a Moron

Here's a great post from Commentary regarding something I absolutely agree with. It's a post on a moron that yelled "tyrant" at the Attorney General last week (the night he collapsed). The money quote:

The innate contradictions of these people’s actions always seems to escape them. In Sanders’ case, were Mukasey truly a tyrant, then Sanders would have been hauled off by the secret police and tossed into a prison somewhere, alongside people like Keith Olbmermann, George Soros, and Barack Obama, just to name a few. But it was the sheer impossibility of that happening that encouraged Sanders to stand up at this gathering and make a complete and utter ass of himself without fear of government retaliation.
Whenever anyone around me does a bone-headed something, I usually smile and am thankful for them. Because they are idiots, the rest of us look that much smarter, you see.

And I thought Dolly Parton's numbers were big...

From NRO and Ritholtz.com:
Jim Bianco of Bianco Research crunched the inflation adjusted numbers. The bailout has cost more than all of these big budget government expenditures – combined:
• Marshall Plan: Cost: $12.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $115.3 billion

• Louisiana Purchase: Cost: $15 million, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $217 billion

• Race to the Moon: Cost: $36.4 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $237 billion

• S&L Crisis: Cost: $153 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $256 billion

• Korean War: Cost: $54 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $454 billion

• The New Deal: Cost: $32 billion (Est), Inflation Adjusted Cost: $500 billion (Est)
• Invasion of Iraq: Cost: $551b, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $597 billion

• Vietnam War: Cost: $111 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $698 billion

• NASA: Cost: $416.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $851.2 billion

TOTAL: $3.92 trillion

And, according to NRO, even WWII cost less than the bailout.

Gee, let's throw open the doors of Guantanamo

There is a great article in The Weekly Standard about why Guantanamo has been a huge success in protecting the United States from attacks...how it has foiled actual attacks...and how the "high value detainees" are really bad guys that even John Kerry wouldn't invite to a dinner party.

But Obama wants to close GITMO and move these FREAKING TERRORISTS to the US and give them the same rights you and I have, as in those from the Constitution. Now every one of us that has traveled to, say, Europe or Russia has been told that we have to abide by THEIR laws, and we don't have "Constitutional Rights" in Transylvania.

So why would we give these vermin those rights that our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines have fought and died for?
THAT'S THE BILLION-DOLLAR QUESTION.

My solution: turn em loose in a raft in the Gulf while the US Navy is conducting live-fire target practice. Even better: I suggest that Obama go to GITMO before closing it and meet with these terrorists (without preconditions) before letting them go. Maybe they'll toss some bodily fluids on him.

This article from The Weekly Standard is a must-read. Here's the money quote:
The greatest success of the Bush administration is that it stopped all of this, and more, from happening. The continental United States was under attack from an enemy unlike any other this nation has ever faced. There was no easy legal precedent or historical analogy. In the wake of 9/11, the Bush administration had to make up new rules as it went along. Critics are free to charge that the administration went too far. But the Obama administration may rapidly discover that treating the terrorist threat like any other matter in federal court, as candidate Obama proposed, is not only unrealistic but also dangerous.

The Boss on the Election

It is a little after 8:30 pm on election night and based on what we can see, Obama has won this election.

It bothers me that McCain/Palin lost but I am more pissed off that the American people voted for a man who has no integrity, moral direction, or conscience, and has no ability to tell the truth. I am pissed off at the people who were interviewed after voting and when asked if raced played any part into who they voted for, said "YES that is why I voted for Obama." I am pissed off because they are black and can say that on national TV and no one calls them on this as being racist. We all know if a white person had said that we would be called a racist.

I pissed off that two black men who are part of the Black Panther party can stand in front of a polling place and tell the people inside not to come out and imitate those trying to get in by swinging a night stick. And when the police are called nothing is done about it.

I am pissed off that a middle aged black women can say on national TV when Barrack is elected she won't have to worry about making her house payment and buying gas for her car, Barack will take care of her and now she doesn't have to worry anymore.

I am pissed off that many people who voted for the first time today could not even tell you what the Bill of Rights is about, forget about the chain of command. If something happens to the president, they have no clue as to the issues and how it will affect them.

I am pissed off that Obama played the race card more than once during his campaigning. He brought up slavery while speaking on the steps of the Detroit Public Library, he joked that he looks nothing like anyone on dollar bills, he took every opportunity to bring up race. I believe he has done more to drive a wedge between blacks and whites and has done more to undo what Martin Luther King brought together.

I could discuss numerous other reasons why I am pissed off but facts are facts, we survived Jimmy Carter but I am not sure we cannot survive what is coming.

I am going to get a good stiff drink, take a sleeping pill and hope that when I wake up in the morning I will discover I was in Emerald City with Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion………"there's no place like home"……there's no place like………ugh.

Pinch sums it up

I was gonna write a foul-tempered post with a lot of cuss words...my dad would smack me.
But Pinch says it best, and it's SFW:
...as soon as the people get a taste of what a “redistributive government” led by a political neophyte and an absolutely bat-crap-crazy congress (emphasis mine) is like, in 2 years the House will turn again and the Senate will return to a more even split.

Having said that, I can’t believe how incredibly gullible and stupid some of the electorate are.

Amen, brother. Catch the whole thing over at instapinch.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Barack's grandmother died. RIP.

She voted absentee in October.
We hear that her vote will be counted.
Now dead people can vote?

Bullshit.

Here's what The Boss has to say about this.

Would someone please help me understand how this works:

How does a dead person's vote count?

Obama's grandmother passed away yesterday and even though she is not alive on Election Day, because she voted Absentee in October her vote counts. How can this be? How can a dead person legally vote?

If dead people can vote, then I need to visit the graves of my grandparents and father and see how they want to fill out their Absentee ballot, because like Obama's grandmother, they are absent!!!!

If dead people can vote then we need to set up polling booths in all cemeteries because you never know who might show up. We will also need to staff these booths with Federal poll watchers just to make sure everything goes according to election rules.

If dead people can vote, how do we verify their addresses? Obama's grandmother will not be living at the same address that is on her voter registration card on election day.

So tell me, how can dead people vote?

Cowboy's Loss -- from The Boss

Well, The Boss knows football. Here's her comment on today's Cowboy loss.

That is some kind of __________________ (you fill in the blank).

As most of you know we are huge football fans; we count the days to the next game after the Pro-Bowl Game is over. We spend all day Saturday working like crazy, cooking food to get ready for Sunday, football all day.

In my humble opinion, this year most of the teams suck. They include Detroit (nothing ever changes), Indianapolis, Green Bay and last but not least Dallas. I will give Indy a pass since Payton had knee surgery this past summer and is very cautious with dropping back and stepping forward. Detroit, huh, I am not sure if they ever had a winning team or ever will. Their coaches suck, there is no team coordination while on the field, I could go on but why? Green Bay, some days they're better than others, but they just are not playing like they did when Brett was there.

Now to Dallas: they deserved to lose today. They suck. Penalty after penalty, missed catch after missed catch. But the worst thing I saw this afternoon was number 31, Mike Jenkins, a rookie. The play took place in the 4th quarter against the Giants. They were down on the Cowboys 15 yard line and the Giants ran it in for another touchdown. Mike Jenkins had a golden opportunity to tackle the running back and chose to hold up and let him go on to score. Excuse me, but this rookie should be fired immediately. If I owned the team he would not be riding back on the team plane. I would give him bus money and tell him when you get back to Dallas clean your locker out. Some of you would probably say "ah he's just a rookie give him a break." Being a rookie is no excuse for not tackling the running back, he knows better. Here is another player who probably has an ego larger than life and thinks he made it to the big time, especially playing for the Dallas Cowboys. I don't care that Dallas was going to lose anyway, as a player your job is to never stop playing.

He should be fired and made an example of to the rest of the team. Jerry should tell all the players, "You either play this game with everything you have – all out - or you will be gone also". This is known as attitude adjustment and Mike Jenkins needs one. He needs hope and change just like Barack.

And no, The Boss did NOT vote for Barack "The Commie" Obama.

Scientists for Obama

See my previous post about 100 economists endorsing McCain. The 100 economists gave many reasons why Obama's proposed policies would be BAD economic policies. They actually used examples of why these bad policies would be horrible for the economy.

Now we have some 61 Nobel laureates (that means they won the prize -- why don't they just say "Nobel Winners"?) who endorse Obama. Do they use examples of how Obama's policies would be great for the economy? Noooo...they are a bunch of crybabies who want more government spending on their pet projects so that they don't have to find REAL jobs.

I mean, really, they say they want more spending "to meet the nation's and the world's most urgent needs". Yeah, right. See, in a free market, we let private enterprise do this kind of research. How's that increased spending on schools helped out with literacy? (Hint: I want a refund.)

FULL TEXT OF THE LETTER TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC FROM 65 AMERICAN NOBEL LAUREATE SCIENTISTS

An Open Letter to the American People

This year's presidential election is among the most significant in our nation's history. The country urgently needs a visionary leader who can ensure the future of our traditional strengths in science and technology and who can harness those strengths to address many of our greatest problems: energy, disease, climate change, security, and economic competitiveness.

We are convinced that Senator Barack Obama is such a leader, and we urge you to join us in supporting him.

During the administration of George W. Bush, vital parts of our country's scientific enterprise have been damaged by stagnant or declining federal support. The government's scientific advisory process has been distorted by political considerations. As a result, our once dominant position in the scientific world has been shaken and our prosperity has been placed at risk. We have lost time critical for the development of new ways to provide energy, treat disease, reverse climate change, strengthen our security, and improve our economy.

We have watched Senator Obama's approach to these issues with admiration. We especially applaud his emphasis during the campaign on the power of science and technology to enhance our nation's competitiveness. In particular, we support the measures he plans to take – through new initiatives in education and training, expanded research funding, an unbiased process for obtaining scientific advice, and an appropriate balance of basic and applied research – to meet the nation's and the world's most urgent needs.

Senator Obama understands that Presidential leadership and federal investments in science and technology are crucial elements in successful governance of the world's leading country. We hope you will join us as we work together to ensure his election in November.

Don't worry...you're sane

This Sandy Levinson is not, though. Oh no. This moron wants Bush and Cheney to resign on Nov 5 and let the new crew be sworn in early. After all, says Sandy, why should we waste all of that time waiting until January? Hmmm?

Well, Sandy my boy (or girl, who knows), there's this little thing called the Constitution that you so conveniently cherry-pick from. The Constitution calls for the Electors (later called the Electoral College) to elect the President. See, Sandy, since you missed it in 8th grade civics, the popular vote does NOT elect the President. That is reserved for the Electoral College, and that takes place, oh, about six weeks after the election. So, ya see there, Sandy, you shouldn't espouse violations of the Constitution if yer gonna try to be considered a serious thinker. Leave that to us Rednecks out here in Flyover Country.

Since you are a dolt and a truther, why don't you spend your time figuring out who was on the Grassy Knoll? That would be a better use of your time.

Read the whole thing...you'll be able to go to sleep knowing you are sane. Sandy? -- not so much.

Also found out he's a teasip. Why does that not surprise me? There are more lefties in Dobie than there are in all of Portland.

McCain's Health care proposal -- simplified

Here's the best summary of the McCain vs Obama plans for health care. It's from Yuval Levin. He's cross-posted it on NRO. Remember, McCain is all about giving us freedom of choice, while Obama is about National Health Care (shudder).
The case for McCain's plan can be made very plainly: If you like your coverage as it is, the plan will let you keep it and you will pocket a little more money at tax time. If you don't like your coverage now, the plan will give you a lot more options to choose from and let you use the same money your employer now uses to pay for them. And, if you don't have insurance today, the McCain plan will offer you more options, reduce costs in the market for individual insurance, and put you $5,000 closer to having health insurance. Obama's plan would push tens of millions of people out of private insurance they like and into a vast government program. It would, moreover, raise taxes on hiring in hard economic times and break the federal budget. (Emphasis mine.)

NOW yer Talkin

FINALLY! We now have economists coming out with a common-sense response to what will happen to the US economy if Obama implements his tax hikes and other socialist agenda items. I have an economics degree, and I can tell you that there are as many economic opinions as there are...armpits. However, we do know from the experience of the Kennedy and Reagan years that tax cuts create increased revenue for the US Treasury. We also know that tax hikes cause people to say "f*** it" when they are asked to work overtime: Why work more to take home less? Hell, go home and have a beer instead.

Anyway, 100 economists have signed a letter condemning the Obama economic plan (plan? That's generous -- it's really a cluster you-know-what). Here's a sample:
Barack Obama argues that his proposals to raise tax rates and halt international trade agreements would benefit the American economy. They would do nothing of the sort. Economic analysis and historical experience show that they would do the opposite. They would reduce economic growth and decrease the number of jobs in America. Moreover, with the credit crunch, the housing slump, and high energy prices weakening the U.S. economy, his proposals run a high risk of throwing the economy into a deep recession. It was exactly such misguided tax hikes and protectionism, enacted when the U.S. economy was weak in the early 1930s, that greatly increased the severity of the Great Depression. (Emphasis mine.)

I guarantee you that a crowd walking down the street in Dallas with Obama signs would not be treated like this. Some would cheer, but most would turn away, shaking their heads, wondering what their mothers would think of folks who want a commie as a President. There would be no threats.

The Boss on Black & White Obama 10/2

FYI: The Boss was born and raised in Detroit.

It’s only 9 am Dallas time and I am already pissed off. I started watching the Obama speech to the people of Grand Rapids, Michigan and oh my god, I noticed right off the bat that he is giving a totally different speech to the mostly “white” people in Grand Rapids versus the speech he gave on the steps of the Detroit City Library to “mostly “black” people in Detroit a few days ago.

This speech in Grand Rapids is about jobs and economic issues, while the Detroit speech was about blacks overcoming all the hard times through the 200 + years of this country, including slavery.

What an arrogant SOB !!!! Are Obama and his crew that color conscious that they feel they have created different messages based on race? Do the black people in this country not care about the economy? Do the white people not care about fair treatment regardless of race? Does he really have to change the inflection in his speech pattern when he is speaking to whites and blacks?

Is Obama that stupid to think that no one would notice his racist speeches and gestures? Does this mean if he is elected and living in the White House that he will serve, Prime Rib, salad, baked potatoes, white bread and angel food cake to all the white people who come to dinner and BBQ, potato salad, biscuits and sweet potato pie to all the black people who come to dinner?

If he treats white crowds differently than black crowds while trying to get elected, what makes anyone think he will treat them differently if he is elected?
Wake up America, listen with the two ears you have or suffer for the next four years.

The Boss on Travel 9/30

Hubby and I are visiting our son and he recently moved into a beautiful apartment. He has been in his new home for almost three months and guess what? Still no TV. That is right -- no cable, no satellite, no rabbit ears, no nothing. I am having withdrawal from FOXNEWS, O’Reilly, Hannity (no Colmes) and just all the news in general.

I am not sure how he does it or why he does it but it doesn’t seem to bother him or his girlfriend at all. When they “watch TV”, they are really just watching a movie. Now don’t get me wrong, I love movies during the weekends but during the week, I need to know what is going on. I have gotten so used to screaming at the TV, jumping out of my chair when I hear something stupid, walking out of the kitchen (as I am preparing dinner) with a knife in my hand and yelling at Pelosi spewing her crap on TV. This no TV is messing with my life as I know it.

Now on the other side (fair and balanced) it feels like my blood pressure is down, I am a lot calmer, no headaches and sleeping really well at night. Yeah, Yeah, I know, what you are thinking, but I just can’t continue this no TV, cold turkey thing, I’VE GOT TO KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING.

So I will take my blood pressure medicine, take my aspirin and sleeping pills and go find a TV at Best Buy playing FOXNEWS.

The Boss on Obama 9/28

Hey, I don't write 'em, I just post em.

We are currently in the car driving listening to Fox News. They cut in to let us listen to Obama speaking to the people in Detroit.

Obama has now hit an all time low and has now made the race for the White House a racial race.

He and his campaign people have kept inferring that this is a race based on color and today he point blank played the “slavery” card to rile up the crowd in Detroit. Any wonder why? With the recent scandal of Mayor Kilpatrick, the jobless rate growing every day, housing prices in the Motor City at an all time low and in general a very depressive place to live, Obama steps in to be viewed as the “savior” to lead them out of slavery and into the promise land.

Those people standing on the steps of the Detroit City Library listening to Obama spew his radical racial views as a means to secure the highest seat in our country will be no better off four years from now if they vote based on race rather than ability.

If those same people would take the time to read his “plan” they would be enlightened as to his lack of understanding for our economy and global security.
Any person who uses the race card for personal gain in the end will get what they deserve. It may put him in the White House but he will go down in history as the “worst” president in our country.

If I were to tell you I was voting for John McCain because he is white, they would call me a racist. What about those people voting for Obama because he is black? They are racists, too. Fair is fair.

As a child of the Baby Boomer era, I would hope that we have moved past the deep seated racial hatred. I guess some of us have but the black community has not. They continue to hang on to the past with no real knowledge of their true history.

Those people standing on the steps of the Detroit City Library should go inside the library and read about slavery. African tribes took other Africans from their villages and made them slaves in the 1500’s; it was those same African tribes that introduced slavery to the white European traders and they made an excellent living selling their own brothers and sisters.

The next time you hear anyone talk about what “whites” did, remind them it was their own black ancestors that created the slavery market place.

The other point I would like to mention is the fact that Obama is half white and yet he continues to align himself with only the black community. Is he denying his white mother, is he ashamed of his white ancestors, is he ashamed of being half white and a racist against white people?

If voting for John McCain because he is right makes me a racist, then I wear that badge proudly.

Transparent as Tin Foil

Word came last night at 11.37 CDT (yeah, I was up) that Congress has reached a deal on the financial bailout. Two comments:

1. It sure didn't look like it from their sour pusses.
2. No details of the bill were discussed.

Newt Gingritch has it EXACTLY RIGHT (from the Atlanta Journal Constitution):

The former Georgia congressman also demanded that the final version of be bill be posted on the Internet for 24 hours before Congress votes on the package.

“That will let you flush out the kind of hidden, secret deals that crop up, that the press finds two weeks after something’s been voted on,” he said.

He's absolutely right...it should be posted for 24 hours just so the public can see what kind of pork they are trying to load up in this bill.

9/11 Hijackers Remains

Over at Right Wing News, Gina has this interesting post:

What Should Be Done with the 9/11 Hijackers' Remains?

So, we've got some pieces and bits of 13 of the 9/11 hijackers.

The question is, what do we do with them?

Seven years after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, the remains of 13 of the 19 men responsible have been identified and are in the custody of the F.B.I. and the New York City medical examiner's office.

But no one has formally requested the remains in order to bury them.

"Politically, one can understand that this is a hot potato," said Muneer Fareed, secretary general of the Islamic Society of North America and a former professor of Islamic studies. "People don't want to identify with the political equivalent of Jeffrey Dahmer."

What would happen if someone asked for the hijackers' remains is not clear.

Neither the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which holds the remains of the nine hijackers whose planes hit the Pentagon and crashed in a field in Somerset County, Pa., nor the New York City medical examiner's office, which holds the remains of 4 of the 10 hijackers who flew planes into the World Trade Center buildings, has policies to deal with such a request.

"If and when it comes up, we'll address it then," an F.B.I. spokesman, Richard Kolko, said.

The bureau could turn down such requests, Mr. Kolko said, because the Sept. 11 investigation is an open case.

The medical examiner's office, which, like the F.B.I., refuses to say where exactly the remains are being kept, will eventually put together a committee to come up with a policy, said Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the office.

Groups representing the victims of Sept. 11 are not sure what should be done with the remains.

"It would be sadly ironic if they ended up being properly buried or sent to a Muslim country when many of the remains of the victims remain buried in a garbage dump," said Kurt Horning, a founder with his wife, Diane, of the group WTC Families for Proper Burial. "I know we'd feel very distressed."

The Hornings' son, Matthew, 26, was working at the World Trade Center and died there on Sept. 11. Their group has been advocating for excavation of the Fresh Kills landfill on Staten Island where ash and other debris from the World Trade Center site was buried. The group believes the debris may contain identifiable remains.

The identified remains of the victims of Sept. 11 are regularly returned to their families upon request, after officials have made positive identifications.

I'm sure RWN readers can come up with some excellent suggestions.

I'm not sure what should be done, but I can suggest some guidelines: (1) no honorable burial and (2) preserve some DNA to keep future generations from rewriting history to absolve these Islamic terrorists and blame others who are innocent, as many have already tried to do.

Visit GINA COBB for more news and commentary

I'll tell you what we do with them. We incinerate them, use the ashes in making the bomb casings for a few CBU's, and we use them on the bastards in the Paki-Afghani border region. I'm sure that if we announced that we were going to do this, many of these morons would voluntarily cluster together to be martyred with the 9/11 hijackers' remains. So much the better. They cluster, and we use cluster-bombs.

Unpatriotic Taxpayer?

Joe Biden is a one-man bullshit show. Wind him up and out comes...crap.

Biden said this about paying taxes:

"We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people," Biden said. Of those who would pay more, he said: "It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut." (Emphasis mine.)

Uh, no.

From Judge Learned Hand: "Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one's taxes. Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands."

I'll be damned if I'll sit by and let this moron call me unpatriotic. You know what? All that money I send over to support soldiers? I don't write that off...that's my patriotic duty...not paying more freaking taxes.

November can't come soon enough, and Joe can go back to Delaware and "suck it".

The Boss, Part VI

Now she's pissed about Barack Obama...gee, there's a surprise.

Oh my gosh, I just heard this on the radio: Barack Obama is black !!!! DUH !!!

What I don't understand is why he has to keep telling us he is black. Why does he have to keep bringing up his ears (if he doesn't like them, then get to a Plastic Surgeon)? It is pretty petty that you, Barack, have to use your physical features to try to garner votes by getting stupid people to feel sorry for you, because you are black with big ears.

Here's news for you Barack: I am NOT blind. I can see your big ears sticking out the sides of your face...and I can see that you're black. So what?? It will not change my mind that you are NOT the right choice to be our next President.

It is your lack of experience, fabrication on your accomplishments, your so-called associates and a lack of knowledge of what the American people and this country need; those are the reasons I am NOT voting for you.

Get over yourself.

Change...your Underwear

Apparently Obama has heeded his own advice. He has now changed his campaign slogan. Here's what Fox News says:

Obama, whose slogan has long been “Change We Can Believe In,” has since the end of the Democratic National Convention in late August altered his rallying cry — and not because it ends in a preposition.

Obama now speaks at a podium that bears the words “Change We Need.”

Hehe...he'll need to change his drawers before he's done. McCain is just getting wound up on his ass. Wait till the Swift-boaters get started on this empty suit.

Fed Wastes MORE of YOUR Tax Dollars

Dammit, I didn't want this to happen. I didn't agree with the loans to Chrysler, I don't think the government should have created CONRAIL, and I DAMN sure don't want my tax dollars loaned to AIG.

If an insurance company can't make a profit, it should go out of business. This bull about it being "too big to fail" is nonsense...and non-provable until we try it.

The Feds will probably screw this up, and we'll lose half of the $85 billion. Trust me. AND -- our taxes will go up.

Damn Hank Paulson, damn Ben Bernanke, and to hell with AIG.
